# A normal day

> Start with today, capture promises, pick your focus, close the loop.

## Start with today

```text theme={null}
today
```

You see the project you're working on, your focus, what you owe that's due or late, what you're waiting on that needs a follow-up, the next three days, and projects going quiet. Add `+acme` to see one client only.

## Capture

```text theme={null}
owe send pricing deck @ravi due:thu
wait design files @meera due:fri
in ask Ravi about the phase 2 budget
```

* `@ravi` is the person. New people are created as you go.
* `due:` takes `today`, `tomorrow`, a weekday, `eow` (end of week), `+3d`, `+2w` or a date like `2026-10-20`.
* It lands in the project you're working on. Add `+northwind/portal` to put it somewhere else.
* Optional: `from:meeting`, `from:slack:` followed by the link to the message, and `#tags`.
* `in` takes anything, with no person or date. Sort it later with `triage`.

See [syntax](/reference/syntax) for every token.

## Pick your focus

```text theme={null}
focus c1 c4
```

Up to three. Everything else stays visible below them in `today`.

## Close the loop

```text theme={null}
done c1                    # kept
renegotiate c4 due:mon     # you agreed a new date
nudge c2                   # you chased someone
drop c7                    # no longer needed
set c3 title:"send revised deck" due:fri @priya
```

## Look things up

```text theme={null}
ls                 # everything open
ls owe             # or: wait, overdue, done, inbox
ls +acme @ravi     # by client or project, and person
show c1            # details and history
show p1            # a project, its resume note and open items
```
